I know I"m an old fashioned girl. Somewhat conservative. But it's my party and I"ll cry if I want to.
I'd seen video clips go viral, sent from everyone of little girls singing to Beyonce's Single Ladies (or whatever it's called). I'd heard of it, and seen snippets of it, but not sat and watched (I haven't watch a video hits program since I was 18).
So for those living under the same rock as me (and while we're at it, pick up your crap - I'm not your freaking slave), here's the origininal clip. I don't love it, but it's ok for what it is.
Until, little 12 month and 2 year old and 3 year old and 5 year olds start simulating those moves. Which to me, is a little off. Makes me uncomfortable.
Do you think there should be a limit to how much 'booty shaking' we encourgate in girls this young?
Don't get me wrong, there are some adorable videos on YouTube of babies dancing and signging. And even the ones I've mentioned have their own elemenet of cute.
I love that song, it's my favorite song at the moment. The baby dancing is the best:)

ReplyDeleteIt's cute but I know what you mean about kids this young shaking their booty. A bit of a worry when they get positive reinforcement for this at a very young age. Makes you wonder what they'll get up to at the age of 6 or 7...esp given that things like eating disorders are not uncommon even now at that age. Sorry...I'll get off my soap box now before I vent too much! :)

ReplyDeleteGorgeous kids in the Youtube clips!!! But I think they'd be JUST as cute, if not cuter bopping along to some daggy old nursery rhyme, sans booty shaking!
