The Jacaranda.

I've admired you every day for weeks. Standing tall, forcing us to behold your beauty, take a moment to see that some things are just..good. Perfect. You are one of my favourite parts of my day, and I never, ever fail to stop and look at you, and smile a little smile.

I saw them today. Cutting back your branches. I know they had to. I know you were in a position to do damage, disrupt power lines.

But I looked at your branches, broken on the ground.

I haven't stopped crying. I don't think it's just for you.

  4. Amazing that nature can make such astonishing trees. My favourite kind of purple!

    (Poor tree.)

  5. Such breathtaking beauty, it seems callous to hack into them (and when I say 'hack', I know... it's council-appropriate action). They just felled 45 trees in our adjoining street and we were gutted. The chainsaws zoomed for days :( There's not a trace, not a stump or piece of woodchip left.

Cry. Get it out! The symmetry of the outpouring for you is not lost on me - have you considered looking up Jacaranda and what energy that holds? There may be something very poignant or pertinent in it for you xxx

  6. You have an amazing way with words. You brought tears to my eyes with such beauty and sadness.

  7. I just felt like them. Broken. I know that I need to be 'fixed' not just for me but for everyone.

But my heart breaks at the callousness of it all.

  8. Jacarandas are a beauty. I have them all over in my neighborhood.

I had felt similar pain when my favorite Mango tree was trimmed to protect the power lines, making me try harder to get to the ripest fruits this season.

I know we're all busy, so the fact you've taken time out of your day to comment and connect with me means so much.
