Coming back in to answer my own questions.

1. What was your favourite subject at school?
Definately English. I loved writing. I loved writing analytical pieces and essays far more than I liked creative writing. I still do.

2. Did you have a favourite teacher? What was it about them that you liked?
Year 11 English. Mr Aitkins. He was a child of the 60s and loved Bob Dylan and the Beatles, Don McClean and Cat Stevens and we had more than a couple off assignments based on their work.

He was a slightly awkward man, I'm guessing had a nervous condition like me, his leg never stopped moving. He was quiet, almost shy, but passionate about literature. He seemed to really like my writing, and a few years later I discovered that he'd submitted some of my work to be used as example pieces for the curriculum for later years.

3. What do you like most about yourself?
I like my capacity to love. I love wholly and completely, with everything that I am. I feel things so deeply. My psych says I'm actually a little too empathetic, that it's bad for me. But it's who I am.

I love with abandon, holding nothing back. Once I decide I love you (this is for everyone, not just Joel), it takes a lot to lose my loyalty. And it breaks my heart when it happens.

4. Why did you start blogging?
At first, I was just blogging as a release, missing my mother so much. I was worried about always dumping that on Joel, so I started writing it all out.

5. Can you show us your five favourite blog posts?
Err. No. Turns out I was utterly unable to narrow it down to 5. I'm afraid you have to put up with 9 or 10. Read them though, if you're new to the site, it will give you a good idea of who I am and what matters to me.

In no particular order..

1. More than Numbers.
2. Peace.
3.Take My Hand.
4. You're Welcome.
5. A Mother Lost.
6. Exquisite. This would have to be in my top 3.
7. Anniversaire.
8. Cherished. So is this.
9. I am.
10. Ella's Gift.

6. What do you love most about your partner?
I love so many things about Joel. But I guess I fell in love with him when he was my best friend. He is the perfect, mild, sweet antidote to my frenetic, sassy, fiery self. He knows when to let me go and rant, and when to reign me in. He is utterly selfless and beautiful and strong. (And, he has the nicest ass...).
7. Next to your husband/partner/significant other/children, who do you speak to most often?
At the moment, my Dad. He calls every morning to see how I'm going.

8. What are your 5 favourite books?

Ok. See, now this time I should be able to narrow it down.
-Anne of Green Gables
-Pride and Prejudice
-Little Women
-To Kill a Mockingbird
-Persuasion
9. Do you have a favourite work of art?
It's a bit cliched, but I really love Starry Night, by Van Gogh. I just love the colours, the swirls. I feel something each time I look at it.

10.If you could live for a year anywhere in the world, where would you choose?
Again with the cliche, but I'd choose to live in Florence. And make a lot of quick trips to France.

  4. Bless your Dad.

Ooooh we've been to Florence *thumbs up* It's gorgeous.

And awwww my gosh, my girl made your top 5...10! xxxxx

(p.s. I have empathy in copious amounts, too, so I'm told/warned! No therapist I've ever been to has told me it's 'bad' for me, though - or perhaps they have eluded to it, a little more tactfully! Perhaps that's why we need therapy! The balance of having empathy and not being an open, gaping heart, bleeding for everyone, is a tricky one to master ;)

I know we're all busy, so the fact you've taken time out of your day to comment and connect with me means so much.
