It's done. I did the right thing. I sent messages of support to them the day before Mum's anniversary. Told them all I was thinking of them. It's not my fault that they're unable to take that at face value. It's not my fault that they chose to turn that into a fault. My only fault is assuming they would be reasonable or mature about it.
So. It's a new week (yes, it's Tuesday. Whatever. Yesterday was a public holiday here in Queensland). So today counts. Just going with the happy and the pretty. Because this weekend we will be on HOLIDAYS!! The first one in 5 years. Zen starts....NOW.

The beautiful old Queenslander we'll be staying in. And the view from the verandah.
Directly ON the river (if you look at the picture above left, the pics of the river are directly behind the trees on the left). The little rapids a little way up. Kayaks included.
This wasn't my idea. I had wanted to go to Caloundra and stay near the beach. Even if it was a bit cold, I wanted to be near the ocean. But Joel and the boys fell in love with this place. And the more I look at it, the more I agree. There will be reading (For all of us), writing (for me), picnics by the river (all of us) bushwalking and fishing (the boys), riding of brand spanking new bikes for the boys, Kayaking on the river (definitely for them. Are they insane? It's going to be freezing!!). I'm going to make use of the amazing oven and stove (do you think they'd notice if I brought it home?) and let casseroles simmer all day. If I'm feeling lazy, Joel can cook us some steak on the barbecue. Or we'll head into town and have dinner at an old country pub. The boys can stay outside in the treehouse as late as they want and (hopefully) sleep as late as they want.
I think this is going to be the perfect de-stress break for us. An old farm (Sammy's captivated by the cows on the farm), nothing but the sound of birds, animals and the river for a week. I can't wait. So this week, I am starting to get myself into holiday mode. Lots of music. Lots of pictures. Lots of pretty. Chillin' out reading my books. Peaceful.
Could anything be more relaxing?
